SMSTS stands for (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) and is a CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) course. It is aimed at those Managers of all types in the Construction sector whether they be site, project or client managers with the responsibilities that come with that role.
The course will provide supervisors with information and understanding of the Health and Safety, Legal, Welfare and Environmental responsibilities. The SMSTS Course is overseen by the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) and is 5 days long. The Qualification has to be renewed every 5 years by a 2-day refresher course.

What does it cover?
During the course a number of topics will be covered including: Duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, risk Assessment, Health and Safety Management Systems, Behavioural Safety and a range or relevant activities such as Fire Prevention, COSHH and Working at Height.
Can I obtain a Grant to contribute to the cost?
For those companies who are registered with the CITB, you will be able to claim (subject to CITB approval) monies to pay for part of this course for this course. Please ask our administrators about how to do this if you are registered with the CITB.
